Living in the UK for the last few years has given me a lot of time and space to observe the relationship between the church and politics in the Unites States with a bit of breathing room. I don’t have any profound thoughts to share just now, but I have been greatly encouraged reading the blogs of Russell Moore. Moore is the president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, which might raise all sorts of red flags for some readers. Nevertheless, his thoughts are well-worth the read. I find that reading his perspective fills me with hope, a rare feeling for one such as I who is completely disenchanted with the current state of conservative Christian engagement with contemporary politics. I don’t agree with everything he advocates, but he moves us in the right direction. Here are a few links to recent blogs, including the announcement of his latest book which I am eagerly awaiting.
