Bearing Fruit in Somalia
My wife and I are workers amongst a number of West African Muslim people groups. We both have a heart to see the Gospel taken to sub-Saharan Muslims. While we spend most of our time amongst West Africans (think Senegal, Mali, Guinea, Gambia) we also have a special place in our heart for a certain East African Muslim people, the Somali’s. Earlier this year we went on a date to see Captain Phillips. I am always surprised by the emotions that are invoked in us whenever we see something about Somali’s, even if it has been “Hollywoodized.” On the way home that night after the movie, neither of us said a word to each other. We both cried.
Our love for the Somali’s and our desire to serve amongst them one day leads me to keep fairly good track of what is happening in the country of Somalia as well as the general plight of the Somali people globally. This week, I was doing the usual, poking around the internet for news about them. But I was also poking around to find Gospel resources on the web that might useful in working with them. I stumbled upon an amazing video that I would like to share with you below. It is a the story of a Somali woman who came to Christ in Somalia. And yes, I cried my eyes out at the end. This came from the website www.somalistory.com. Beyond the movie, the website is a great resource for reaching and praying for Somali’s. They are currently working on translating the movie into Somali. Would you please say a brief prayer for the Somali that God would bring his salvation to their people?
